# Nomad Tracker > Nomad Tracker is an iOS app that counts the days a person spends in each country and US state, automatically, to keep them clear of visa overstays and accidental tax residency. It covers the Schengen 90/180 rolling window, 183-day tax residency rules with custom fiscal years, the US FEIE 330-day Physical Presence Test and US state days. It is local-first: location history, photos and documents are processed on the iPhone and never sent to Nomad Tracker servers. No account is required. Publisher: Nomad Tracker LLC (Albuquerque, New Mexico, US). Website: https://www.thenomadtracker.com. App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id6756324053?pt=118597896&ct=nomad%20website&mt=8. Platform: iPhone, iOS 17 or later. Languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese. Pricing: free tier with automatic tracking; Pro subscription with a free trial, priced by region in the App Store. Nomad Tracker is not a tax or legal advisor. Its official tax advisory partner is Libertador Fiscal (https://www.libertadorfiscal.com), an independent firm specialised in international taxation for nomads and expats, advising in English and Spanish. Users who book a consultation through Nomad Tracker receive three months of Pro. ## Who it is for Digital nomads tracking the 183-day rule across several countries; Schengen travellers on the 90/180 rolling window; expats with tax residency in more than one jurisdiction; US citizens abroad qualifying for the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion under the 330-day Physical Presence Test; people tracking US state days for state tax; snowbirds and frequent business travellers who need audit-ready records. ## Features - Automatic GPS day tracking (Free): Uses Apple's battery-efficient Significant Location Changes API to detect country changes and log each day on the device. Works offline. Manual edits always take priority over automation. - Schengen 90/180 counter (Free): Implements the official rolling 180-day window: it looks back 180 days from today (or any future date) and counts days spent inside the Schengen Area. Planned future days are never added to the current window. - 183-day tax residency monitoring (Free): Per-country day counters against fiscal residency thresholds, with configurable fiscal year start dates (for example 6 April for the UK, 1 July for Australia). - FEIE 330-day tracker (US expats) (Free): Tracks the Physical Presence Test behind IRS Form 2555: 330 full days outside the United States in any consecutive 12-month period, which leaves a budget of 35 US days. Shows US days left, when past US days roll out of the window, and an estimate of the income that would be excluded. - FEIE Window Explorer (Pro): Slides the 12-month period across the travel history to find the window that maximizes the exclusion, and separates a confirmed pass (window already closed) from a projection. - US state tracking (Free): Days per US state, all 50 states plus DC, for state-level residency thresholds. - Ghost Trips (future trip simulation) (Free): Simulate planned stays and see their effect on visa runway and fiscal counters before booking. Simulations are session-only. Saving named scenarios to reload later is Pro. - Photo library history backfill (Free): Reconstructs past travel from the GPS metadata of photos already on the phone, on device. Photos are never uploaded or read for content. - Photo proof per day (Free): Attach photos to any day as evidence; they are matched by capture date and coordinates. - Custom country and runway rules (Free): Day limits, rolling windows and fixed periods per country to model any visa rule. - Calendar Sync (Pro): Reads the calendars the user selects, only the next three months, only on the iPhone, and turns hotel stays, flights, rentals and conferences into trips with a country and dates. Strictly read only: it never creates, edits or deletes events. The first import is reviewed; afterwards only ambiguous trips ask for a decision. - Proof Classifier (Pro): Bulk import of boarding passes, hotel invoices, entry stamps, receipts and screenshots. Text is extracted on device with Apple Vision OCR; only what the local date parser cannot resolve is sent to the AI provider the user chose, which can be Apple Intelligence running on device. Each document is attached to the day it proves; a return ticket yields two days in two countries, a hotel invoice attaches to the first night and shows the nights it covers. Conflicts go to a review screen instead of overwriting. - One-shot document scanner (Pro): Scan a single document with the camera; country and dates are filled in automatically. - Document Vault (Pro): Encrypted on-device storage for passports and visas behind Face ID, with expiry alerts. - Smart alerts (Pro): Notifications before a visa or fiscal threshold is reached. - Home Screen widgets (Pro): Schengen days remaining, fiscal accumulation and country counters on the Home Screen. - Schengen Planner (Pro): Maximum stay that can start today under 90/180, plus the dates when days roll back into budget. - Historical Dashboard and Monthly Fiscal Report (Pro): Every past year of data (the free tier covers the current year and the year on either side) and a monthly recap per country. - Data export (Pro): PDF and CSV reports for accountants and tax advisors, with attached proof. - iCloud Sync (Pro): Sync across the user's own Apple devices through their personal iCloud, never through Nomad Tracker servers. - Fiscal Oracle AI (Pro): An assistant that reads the user's travel patterns and answers where they stand and what to do next. Provider is the user's choice: Apple Intelligence on device, OpenAI or Anthropic. ## How it differs from other day trackers Compared with other travel day trackers and residency apps (TrackingDays, Flamingo Compliance, Sarmiza, Country Days Tracker, Days Monitor, Residency), Nomad Tracker combines four data sources in one app: live GPS tracking, photo-metadata reconstruction of past travel, read-only calendar sync for booked trips, and document classification that attaches boarding passes, invoices and stamps to the days they prove. It also tracks the FEIE 330-day test with a free-floating 12-month window and US state days, and has separate immigration and fiscal counting modes. All of this runs on the device, with iCloud as the only optional cloud. ## Pages - [Home](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/): product overview, features, FAQ - [Pricing](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/pricing): Free vs Pro feature comparison and pricing FAQ - [Free tools](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/tools): browser tools, no download - [Schengen 90/180 Calculator](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/tools/schengen-calculator): enter stays, get days used and remaining under the rolling window - [Tax Residency Quiz](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/tools/tax-resident-quiz): enter countries and days, get a residency risk assessment - [Nomad Tax Map](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/tools/tax-map): day limits, fiscal year starts and Schengen status for 190+ countries - [Blog](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/blog): guides on tax residency, visas, Schengen, EES and ETIAS - [Support](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/support) - [Press kit](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/press) - [Privacy policy](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/privacy) - [Terms](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/terms) ## Blog posts - [The 40L One-Bag Digital Nomad Setup That Actually Works (2026 Edition)](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/blog/40l-one-bag-digital-nomad-setup-2026) (2026-08-28): A realistic 40-liter one-bag setup for full-time nomads in 2026: the right carry-on, a lean tech kit, the new power bank rules, and the admin layer most packing lists skip. - [Why DTV Applications Get Rejected (And How Embassies Differ)](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/blog/thailand-dtv-application-rejections-embassy-guide) (2026-08-14): The consulate lottery explained: why the same DTV file passes at one Thai mission and fails at another, the top rejection causes, and what to do after a refusal. - [The Nomad Burnout Nobody Talks About: When Moving Every Month Stops Being Fun](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/blog/nomad-burnout-slow-travel-fatigue) (2026-08-12): Why the one-city-per-month pace quietly burns nomads out, what the data says about slow travel, and how slowing to three-month stays fixes it. - [Thailand Tax for Nomads: The 180-Day Rule, Remittance, and How to Legally Pay Less](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/blog/thailand-tax-residency-remittance-rules-nomads) (2026-08-06): How Thailand's 180-day tax residency test and remittance-basis system actually work in 2026, plus the legal ways to reduce what you owe. - [The Thailand DTV Visa: Complete 2026 Guide](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/blog/thailand-dtv-visa-complete-guide-2026) (2026-08-02): What the Destination Thailand Visa actually is in 2026: 5 years, 180 days per entry, the 500,000 THB rule, both qualifying tracks, and what it does not allow. - [Stop Romanticizing the Nomad Life: The Stuff That Actually Sucks](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/blog/stop-romanticizing-nomad-life-what-actually-sucks) (2026-07-26): An honest look at the digital nomad downsides nobody posts about: loneliness, burnout, admin overhead, timezone juggling, and the low-grade anxiety of visa math. - [Tax Residency Nowhere: The Perpetual Traveler Strategy and Why It's Getting Harder in 2026](https://www.thenomadtracker.com/blog/tax-residency-nowhere-perpetual-traveler-2026) (2026-07-19): The flag theory dream of being a tax resident of nowhere is collapsing.
