What you’ll achieve
By the end of this guide a trip you have simulated survives closing the app, and you can put it back into your numbers whenever you want to look at it again.
The active simulation is deliberately temporary. A group is the opposite: a copy you keep, so two plans for the same summer can sit side by side and you can swap between them.
Step 1: Open the Ghost Trips sheet
Open the Calendar tab and tap the chip in the top left, the one with a plane and the number of trips.
Active Simulation lists what is in your numbers right now, one row per trip, with its country, its day count and its real dates.
The footer says what the button under it does: Save these trips as a group to load them again later.
Step 2: Save the group
Tap Save as Group.
It saves immediately. There is no dialog and nothing to type.
A Saved Groups section appears, holding the whole simulation as one entry: 35 days across 2 trips.
The name is written for you, from up to three of its country flags and the month of its earliest trip. Two plans built for the same month therefore arrive with similar names, and the day and trip counts under them are what tell them apart.
Step 3: Know what the group does not follow
A group is a copy taken at the moment you saved it, not a live link to the simulation.
Change the active simulation afterwards and the group does not move: here the active simulation is down to one trip while the group still holds both.
That is what makes it useful as a scenario. Save the version you like, keep experimenting, and the saved version is still there to go back to.
Step 4: Load it again
Tap the group.
Replace active simulation? is the word that matters: Loading this group replaces your current ghost trips with its saved trips. It is a swap, not a merge, so anything in the active simulation that you have not saved is gone.
The app only asks when there is something to overwrite. With an empty simulation the group loads straight away.
Tap Load. The sheet closes and the trips are back in your calendar and your counters.
Check your result
Force quit the app and reopen it. The Active Simulation is empty, because it never survives a session, and the group is still under Saved Groups with the same day and trip counts.
Tap it, tap Load, and the dashboard counters move again exactly as they did before.
If something looks different
Save as Group opens the subscription screen. Saving is PRO, and the row carries a small lock when you are not subscribed. Building, loading and deleting groups are free.
Save as Group does nothing. The active simulation is empty. There has to be at least one ghost trip to copy.
Two groups look the same. Each save creates a new group, and names are built from flags and a month rather than from anything unique. Compare the day and trip counts, and delete the one you do not want.
Loading did not ask anything. The active simulation was empty, so there was nothing to replace.
Loading lost trips you had just built. Loading replaces. Save the current simulation as its own group before loading another one.
The dates shifted by a day. Groups saved by much older versions of the app stored their days differently, and are corrected when they load. The dates in the sheet are the ones the app will use.
The group is not on your other iPhone. A saved group lives with the app on the device that saved it.
